MHS SRA Conversion Procedures for the new Nortel Extranet Access Client - Installation and Configuration

2. Download the new vpn client.  

3. Install the Extranet Access Client. 

4. Configure the Extranet Access Client.

5. Connect to MHS SRA and access the Physician's Home Page.

6. Changing Your Password

 

1. Before you begin

  • If you were a previous SRA user, you should first uninstall that client software.   Click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/'Add/Remove Programs'.  Highlight 'VPNremote for Windows 9x' and click OK to remove the old vpn client.  When the uninstall is complete download the new Nortel Client and return to this page.
  • The Nortel Extranet Access Client installation may require the Operating System (Windows 9x, 2000 or XP) Install CD or CABs.  Please make sure you have these available before proceeding.  Check your disk space!  You must have a least 160 MB free space on the c:\ drive in order to proceed.
  • Please install/update your virus protection on your remote PC.

2.Download new vpn client

Windows 95 users should click the VPN FAQ button a the top of the page and view/print Installing Extranet Access Client on Windows 95 before proceeding.

Click the Download button at the top of this page.  Click the Nortel Extranet Access Client link and then OK to Save this program to disk.  You will be prompted to enter the username/password from NEW ACCOUNT EMAIL sent to you by MHS SRA Help Desk.  Leave the Domain field empty.  Using the Save AS Window download the eac415d.exe file to the desktop or a temporary folder (you can move to the desktop easily in the Save AS Window by Clicking the down arrow on the right of the Save in: field and then clicking Desktop).  The download can take as little as a minute on a cable connection or up to 35 minutes on a 28.8 modem.  When the download file is complete you can proceed to step 3. Install the Extranet Access Client.


3.Extranet Access Client Installation

The Nortel Extranet Access Client installation may require the Operation System (Windows 9x) Install CD or CABs.  Please make sure you have these available before proceeding.  Check you disk space!  You must have at least 160 MB free space on the c:\ drive in order to proceed.

The Nortel Extranet Access Client will install to Windows 95 (see VPN FAQ), Windows 98, or Windows 2000.  It not supported on Windows 3.1, DOS, Linux, Unix or Macintosh at this time.

a. Double-click on the eac415d.exe file which you have downloaded from this web site.

b. Click NEXT to continue with the wizard installation.

c. Click YES (Of course you agree!).

d. Click NEXT to install to C:\Program Files\Nortel Networks.

e. Click NEXT to accept Nortel Networks as the default Program Folder.

If NT or Windows 2000 click NEXT to accept Install and run as an Application (default).

f. Click NEXT to begin the installation of files. Your computer will automatically detect new hardware during the install. There is nothing wrong with your machine! Place the OS CD in the tray or point to the CABs if requested. Do not skip files during this step. Try C:\Windows and C:\Windows\System if a file cannot be found on the CD.

g. Click YES to all version conflicts. Your computer may or may not experience this, as many people will be running different operating systems. 

h. After reading the README.txt, click NEXT to continue. 

If NT or Winodws 2000 the system will automatically reboot.

i. Highlight the Yes, I will restart now radio button and click FINISH to restart your machine. 

Now you are ready to configure the software.





4.Extranet Access Client Configuration

1. Click on the Extranet Access Client Icon from your desktop or Start, Programs, Nortel Networks.

2. Click YES to use the Connection Wizard.

3. Enter MHS SRA as the connection name and MHS VPN - SRA as the description. Click NEXT to continue.

4. Select the Radio Button for Username and Password. Click NEXT to continue.

5. Enter your username (mhsxxx where xxx is a three digit numerical code) and your password that were provided by the MHS SRA Help Desk. Both in lowercase letters! 
DO NOT SAVE THE PASSWORD!  

6. Select No to the Group ID and Password.  Click NEXT to continue.

7. Please consult your NEW ACCOUNT EMAIL sent to you by the MHS SRA Helpdesk for the MHS SRA VPN IP. Click NEXT to continue.

8. Dial Up - Click No

9. Click FINISH to complete the configuration. 





5. Connect to MHS SRA and Access the Physician's Home Page.

Now you are ready to use the client! Enter your password. Click CONNECT to start a session!   Congratulations! You have installed the new SRA.  When you connect you will see the Security Banner with a Welcome message.  Click 'OK' to close the Extranet Access Client logon screen.  It will reduce to the system tray (in the lower right hand corner of your screen).

  • After connecting, open your browser (most likely MS Internet Explorer) and access the Physicians Home Page by clicking on the MHS Secure Remote Access button on the Links toolbar or selecting MHS Secure Remote Access from your Favorites.
  • New users will need to create a Favorite to the following address http://mhssb1 

This is the hospital's Intranet site which hosts the Physician's Home Page.

To connect in the future click Start, Programs, Nortel Networks, Extranet Access Client.  

Delete the eac415d.exe file from your desktop or temporary folder.

6. Changing Your Password

For security reasons and HIPAA compliance, we request that you change your SRA password.  This is the password you use to establish your remote access connection.

  1. To change your SRA password you must still be connected to the MHS network.
  2. Use you mouse to right click on the Nortel icon in the system tray (the lower right corner of your screen) and select "Change Password"
  3. You will be prompted to first enter you old password.
  4. Enter your new password.  It must be at least 6 characters.
  5. Re-enter your new password.
